To
date I have written two full-length comedies and several short pieces
that range in length from 10 to 45 minutes. All are currently available
for production. Here are brief descriptions of each. Click on the title

My
latest:
brushstroke is a 10-minute play
that looks at the question of where art comes from, and whether that source
is finite. Artist Timothy Parsons has a brilliant painting that has been
one brushstroke away from completion for the last three weeks. What's
keeping him from finishing it? 2 men, simple set. (Requires a painted
3' x 5' canvas.)

Before Forty. Kevin Gable turns forty tomorrow. Six months ago
he vowed that if he hadn't found someone to be with by the time he was
forty, he was done with dating. Now the woman he's always been waiting
for has walked into his life...why is that such a bad thing? A full-length
romantic comedy. 3 men, 2 women. Minimal set.
Premiering April 2006 with the Medway Players. Production
history
Dinner
for Several.
A romantic comedy in two acts.
Winner of the 2004 James Sunwall New Plays Festival!
All Carter Sullivan wanted to do was make a quiet dinner for his date.
So how did he end up cooking for her, her roommate, his ex-girlfriend,
his roommate, and his roommate's friend? A funny look at love and relationships
and the foolish things we do for them. 4 women, 3 men, full set. This
play premiered with the Medway Players, Medway, MA, November 2004.
"...a marvelous play, with dialogue any actor would devour, perfectly
plotted, quick and comic and yet also touching on the real issues about
how we humans navigate with each other."--Prof. Sidney Homan,
University of Florida
"...a thinking
person's Friends"...."A playwriting marvel that
combines high comedy with piercing insights into relationships."--Comments
from Sunwall Festival judges.
"An Eater's
Digest of food and whine. Engrossing, touching, and just plain funny;
leaves you hungry for more."--Michael Legge, director, Medway
Players

Act/Short
The
Worst Possible Time for Writer's Block. Peter
is dying. All he wants to do is write one more poem. But the clock is
ticking, and it doesn't help that a Minion of Death is in the corner,
being a smartass. Will Peter find one last poem? Can his sister bargain
with death for more time? A 10-minute play. 2 men, 1 woman. Minimal set.
Very dark comedy. Production
history
This play will premiere at Acme Theater's New Works Winter Festival,
January 2006.
Grievance.
A Dialogue. Dennis Kavanaugh is not happy. He wins $11 million
and three days later he gets shot. Obviously, God is to blame, so it's
time for a little head-to-head chat with Him. Approximately
15 minutes. 2 men or 1 man and 1 woman. Minimal set. Production
history
This play premiered at the New England Academy of Theater's Short
and NEAT Festival, June 2005.
"...marvellously
intimate and monumentally important at the same time."--Judd
Silverman, playwright.

Waiting for the End of the World.
In a small city park, three of the Four Horsemen gather for the start
of the Apocalypse. But the fourth is running late and isn't answering
his cell phone. Should the other three get Armageddon underway without
him? Or should they even try? Approximately 20 minutes. 2 men, 1 woman.
Minimal set. Production history
Owen
and George Play Chess.
Owen and George are playing chess in a park when George announces that
he could kill Owen. Right now. And the dark, slightly absurdist comedy
continues from there. About 15 minutes. 2 older men. Minimal set. Production
history
Both plays debuted
July 2004 at Attleboro Community Theater. These plays can be performed
separately, but have typically been played as a pair, using a common set.

Bob's
Date.
My most-produced play to date! Audiences and actors love it!
Bob--who's not actually
in this play--is going on his first date in two years. His internal attributes--Nerves,
Logic, Libido, Confidence, and Bull--rally to prepare for the night. But
when a love-at-first-sight moment awakens Emotion, she threatens to throw
the night into chaos. Approximately 40 minutes. 5 men, 2 women. Minimal
set. Production history
"The
play takes you places you don't think you're going to go. It's a very
clever, very funny piece, but for a comedy it's much more touching than
you think you're going to get."--Richard Carey, director
Bob's Date was
originally produced by Attleboro Community Theater, Attleboro, MA, March
2004.
This play was named first runner-up for Best Production at the 2004 EMACT
Festival and the AACT 2004 Regional Competition in a performance by Curtain
Call Theater of Braintree.
Take a look at some photos
from the EMACT shows.
